Sports drinks: souped-up sodas or post-exercise
pick-me-ups?
Almost all the experts agree that sports drinks are helpful if you're
involved in high-intensity activity for long durations, and/or if you
sweat a lot. The main benefit of sports drinks is that people tend to
drink more because they like the taste. Plus, the sodium makes you thirsty
while helping with the absorption and retention of fluids. However,
some experts say most people don't really have to worry about "recovery"
or rehydration. If you're not a professional athlete or concerned with
top performance, being a bit fatigued after exercise doesn't really
matter. As soon as you eat your next meal, you'll feel better.

Rhubarb, Rhubarb - not just hot air
Rhubarb is a wonderful plant, with many uses and applications. Not least
of which, it is famous in pies, tarts and sauces. Its versatility is
such that rhubarb is also excellent as an aid to the digestive system.
Now Belmay introduces a natural rhubarb flavouring, to open up new and
exciting taste prospects for a wide range of products across the food
and beverage sector.
Given its more widespread usage, rhubarb is an ideal ingredient to
contribute to the increasing interest in natural flavourings. However,
until recently, due to its complex formula, natural rhubarb flavouring
has been very illusive - until now!
After much investigation, the flavour team at Belmay have successfully
developed its own natural rhubarb. This exciting new flavour is heat-stable
and suitable for use in a range of applications. As such, it creates
the opportunities for many products, including dairy products, bakery,
beverages and confectionery.
